You Don't See Those In Minnesota

On may way to work this morning I saw a hot air balloon (a.k.a. ballon aircraft) in the sky.  It was not far from our house which made it appear fairly large.  This is the second time since moving to Texas I have seen one.  I think it would be cool to visit Albuquerque, NM - the Hot Air Ballooning Capital of the World.

Texan Flea Market

We went to our first Texan flea market today.  It is held monthly and called Third Monday Trade Days.  Our friends Sandy and Vince came with Kristi, Sam and myself.  We saw most of what you would expect to see to for sale - cowboy hats, boots, knives, puppies, air soft guns and underground F5 shelters to name a few.  Sam wanted to buy something at every other booth starting off at the first one he saw.  I explained to him that the market is held monthly and we can come back again plus, it is better to do a full walk through to see everything there is and decide later what you like the most.  This didn't sink in until the very end when he saw a bow and arrow he really wanted and I reminded him if he had bought something at the first booth he wouldn't have money for the bow.  I shook his head as if he understood.  Then I told Sam he should put that on his Christmas list :-)

2014 Windsor Meadows Annual Pool Party

All of us spent the day at our community pool.  It was the annual Home Owners Association appreciation for the community we live in.  They had a water slide, temporary tattoo artist, snow cone truck and lunch.  The weather was great and everyone enjoyed a relaxing afternoon.

Independence Day in Texas

Our favorite Floridians Matt and Eva recently visited us over the July 4th weekend.  Our favorite Texans Vince and Sandy facilitated a block party on their street where over 70 neighborhood friends showed up to celebrate.  Great food, fun and weather - a perfect day!

Sting Soccer Club

We have some good news to share!  Nora was offered a spot on the U18 Sting Soccer Team.  The league she'll be competing in is considered one the most competitive in the country.  Many of the high school kids who plan to play soccer in college are recruited from the club level.  A large percentage of kids actually don't play high school soccer their senior because they have already signed their letter in intent.  Nora has had a goal of playing college soccer sine she was in grade school and we are excited for her and proud that she made this team!

Frisco Roughriders

We went to our first Texas baseball game tonight - we met our friends the Kowaleski's there.  The Frisco Roughriders hosted the Arkansas Naturals at Dr. Pepper Stadium.  The Roughriders are a AA affiliate of the Texas Rangers.  It was the first semi-pro game we had been to since frequenting the Durham Bulls in Durham, NC.  The Dr. Pepper Stadium is designed to give you a small village feeling with great food and beverage options and it has a swimming pool overlooking center filed you can rent out for games.  The Roughriders lost 5-6.
